Very sad case

And, to me, infuriating: "More on the persecution of SAS Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith".

  1. Thanks for the link, Paco. Sticking my neck out a little way, I assume that the people who are all in on the SAS man felt much the same way about Cardinal George Pell.

Sticking my neck out a little further, I'd bet that five years ago they were saying things like 'Let the unvaccinated die.'

Even in the 21st Century there are people who can't get through their day without a witch to burn.

  2. It’s not only infuriating, it’s also baffling. I never understood what generated the white-hot hatred for Donald Trump, and I don’t understand this.

  3. The charges and ultimate arrest are a betrayal to every soldier and they picked one of the best to make their point. Robert-Smith is a very impressive man, I met him briefly in Istanbul in 2015 and felt honoured to have shaken his hand.
If you have the time and inclination the link is a podcast which goes for about 90 minutes, the guest is Scott Jones a SASR signals man whe served with Roberts-Smith. Jones is very enjoyable to watch and the host is a regular soldier who crossed paths with the SASR in Afghanistan. I found their stories interesting and believable.

  4. I saw some pretty disgusting attempts to "get" military personnel during the Second Gulf War, also.
