I'm trying to lose weight, so I think I'll go trick-or-treating as a Jehovah's Witness.
Here's a scene from a good movie for Halloween, one of the scariest I ever saw: The Haunting (1963). If you've managed never to have seen it, catch it when you can.

Somehow, in The Haunting, they created horror with very little that was horrifiying. There were scares, but the house itself created a thoroughly unsettling environment.
ReplyDeleteIt was marvelous how the house, itself, seemed to be malevolent, possibly as the result of absorbing all the anger and fear and abuse experienced by generations of residents.
DeleteI've seen it twice, once on tv and once online. Seeing it on the big screen is a challenge I will happily avoid.
DeleteBy the way, if you've never read the book, there's a scene that they omitted from the movie. Perhaps it was more than they could manage with the tech of the time. But it sent its share of shivers up my spine.
