Since even he must know that everything he says is going to be reported everywhere to all sorts of people, I have to conclude that he is, indeed, stupid.RebeccaHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15113907852048577121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935370618605188900.post-73965684053854077202008-07-31T09:29:00.000-04:002008-07-31T09:29:00.000-04:00Well....remember, he IS speaking to Democrats, aft...Well....remember, he IS speaking to Democrats, after all. I told him there might be problems....

And Hot Air produces some hard data about the fuel "savings"....about 100,000 barrels of oil a day, on the high side. Plus some very good comments on just how often a tune up is really needed.

I still maintain that simply increasing your mileage to the design rating is not a "savings". But if you need numbers, there they are.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935370618605188900.post-85141236374496315772008-07-30T22:55:00.000-04:002008-07-30T22:55:00.000-04:00RJ: Crap! But this doesn't improve your mileage, it simply makes sure that your vehicle of choice might actually reach the manufacturer mileage ratings. Which seldom happens in the real world.

It's a good idea for that reason, and to extend the life of your car. Especially if you're like me, and refuse to buy a new vehicle every 2-3 years, like the manufacturers want us to**.

But saving enough oil to avoid the need for drilling? You reduce oil consumption by reducing oil consumption. You'd have to make Congress stop flying and driving everywhere to do that. That ain't gonna happen.

In addition, Wimpy Canadian has it mostly right about conservation.
The original meaning of the word refers to management of renewable resources (e.g., trees).

But I suspect that, in newspeak, "conservation" means either "rationing" or "nationalization", depending on if the lefties refer to "stretching out the supply" or "control", respectively. In which case, "conservation" is indeed BS.

==========
*: My fee for professional services will be delivered by courier tomorrow. Cash, please, and in full. I think you know the courier, paco, used to be the bookie for some detective.....

**: I've had my current F150 since 2002, and I bought it used then. I plan on driving "Betty Boop" for a good number of years (my last rig was a 1986 Nissan pick up, which I sold to a gentleman of Mexican descent for parts, just after I bough my F150). Oddly enough, I had it tuned up just last week, and checked the tires before I left on my trip.....all without the urging of Obama O'Boner. I'm funny that way, I guess.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935370618605188900.post-90368742805027754212008-07-30T22:14:00.000-04:002008-07-30T22:14:00.000-04:00If I get my F150 tuned-up every week maybe I can s...If I get my F150 tuned-up every week maybe I can save enough energy to power the house.
