The Dhimmicrats have not wanted to cooperate well before their 1994 losses....which was a major reason why they lost in the first place. I recall few successful bipartisanship efforts since then.

Richard, let me just say, you write most eloquently. That was well said, indeed.

TW: romencen. And I might add,...Richard: Correct in every detail. And I might add, that when Democrats "reach out" to Republicans, it's almost always a cynical ploy. For example, who really believes that Obama, after conducting a massive search, discovered that the best person in the whole country for the top job at Commerce is a Republican senator from New Hampshire - whose replacement, by a crazy coincidence, would be appointed by N.H.'s Democrat governor?Pacohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08004124282907287652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935370618605188900.post-67238886370469809002009-01-31T18:11:00.000-05:002009-01-31T18:11:00.000-05:00"and that he entered the race with an indisputable..."and that he entered the race with an indisputable reputation for bipartisanship – and he still lost."

Until he got the nomination, then he became just another Republican to the Dems and the media. Remember the chants of "Bush and McCain, one and the same?"

That crippled McCain, because he was NOT the Republican candidate, he was one of the two candidates running against George Bush. He was determined to prove he should have been the candidate in 2000, if not for the way Bush and Rove played so dirty, and so his guiding motive in every choice he made was NOT to be the George Bush he thought he ran against.

As a result, he missed opportunity after opportunity, no, necessity after necessity, to attack and challenge Obama on his lies, his criminal associates, his outright campaign and financial fraud. Not only that, he even hamstringed the Republicans who would tried to fight for him.

He took the high road all the way off Lemming Point.

Now he's back in the Senate, living out his little bipartisan maverick fantasy, and we're left to pay the price for his convictions... for his vanity candidacy.

In the meantime his former staffers are eagerly slagging the one true conservative in his campaign to cover their own asses and pundits like Frum are looking to salvage their writing contracts.

McCain is the problem of the people of Arizona now, but summer soldiers like Frum are ours. We would be idiots to listen to him. Can anyone name one time the GOP reached out to the Democrats and didn't pull back bloody fingers? Accomodation is failure. Appeasement is defeat.

If Frum had any convictions of his own he would be writing columns about how the Democrats just awarded themselves a $93,000 increases EACH in their petty cash allowance, instead of worrying about Rush being mean to someone.

TW: menesalo as to crawl to a Democrat...richard mcenroehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10659450906647134430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935370618605188900.post-75970686112637410372009-01-31T17:43:00.000-05:002009-01-31T17:43:00.000-05:00I liked Frum's book on Bush, but I think he's gone...I liked Frum's book on Bush, but I think he's gone downhill since then.

Acting less socially conservative is not going to make me less socially conservative.
