The Power of the Yawn

It seems that Ron Howard's attempt to create a little controversy in order to boost interest in his new film, Angels and Demons, was something of a bust. The Vatican's newspaper, L'Osservatore, pronounces the movie "harmless...a videogame that first of all sparks curiosity and is also, maybe, a bit of fun."

Haw! Looks like Opie's movie is on its way down to Floyd's barbershop for a revenue haircut.

Update: Shame on Notre Dame, though. I think the Pope ought to cancel its university status and turn it into a Catholic truck-driving school.

Many people must have forgotten that both Brown's books came from the fiction section of the bookstore, not the history section.

Retread

TW: deouci: there's a joke in there somewhere

Unfortunately, I think Brown himself went overboard in promoting the "kernel" of truth in the books (I would say more like a molecule).

Re: Notre Dame - ditto, baby. Pull their charter.

And that brings to mind one of my many dumb questions® - Notre Dame de WHAT? The words "Notre Dame" mean "our lady", but they generally are followed by a place - Notre Dame de Paris, for example.

So what is this? Notre Dame de Indiana? Does she have a sister?
