Maureen O'Hara, RIP

The Queen of Technicolor has died at age 95.

Here she is, with long-time pal John Wayne, in a scene from The Quiet Man.

Ah, the old days are gone forever, sure an' they are.

As sure as that wild goose never laid a tame egg. RIP.

My mother was a brunette version of Maureen in Quiet Man. She was certainly a fine actress (well, both of them!).

An amazing scene from Hunchback in which Maureen did her own stunts at great risk:

I saw The Quiet Man as a child. It inspired our family's never-realized desire to visit Ireland some day. Of course, that Ireland no longer exists.

The Quiet Man is a film I never tire of watching. Maureen O'Hara is an actress I never tired of watching.

By all accounts, Maureen O'Hara was as amazing off-screen as on. She had a fiery, strong, independent spirit and was always classy. John, Jimmymust have given her a doozie of a homecoming. Thankfully, we have her silver gifts to remember her. God, please continue to bless Maureen!
