And great was the wonder in heaven thereat

The astounding victory of Donald Trump is no doubt a phenomenon that will be meditated upon and discussed by everyone in the coming weeks.

But the hell with that. As bandleader Kay Kyser used to say, "C'mon, chill'un, lez dance!"

Update: I confess, I went to bed last night around 10:30, fully expecting to wake up this morning and see the news filled with Hillary's smiling zombie face. When the alarm clock went off at 6 am, I reached over, grabbed my cell phone and brought up Drudge on Google and...Wow! Stunning, stunning win. Trump's victory really is an impressive achievement. He had to fight not only the Democratic Party, but the Clintonostra*, the wildly hyper-partisan press, and a not insignificant unit of conservative and moderate NeverTrumpers.

For me, the biggest thrill was seeing the destruction of the Clinton machine. A Hillary victory would have institutionalized and consolidated the corruption that attends her and her circle of ministers-without-portfolio everywhere they go. Plus, I get to keep my guns and maybe even see Obama Care either overturned or "reformed" out of existence. And of course, there's the Supreme Court, the repudiation of Barack Obama's reign of error, the reversal of his executive orders...the list goes on and on.

*Not my own coinage, but a great word. I regret that I cannot remember where I first saw it.

Update II: A really good analytical piece by Jim Newell (at Slate, of all places).

Update III: Oh, yeah, added bonus: our new First Lady.

All I've been able to think is, 'we dodged a bullet'.

Yes, breathe a sigh of relief, followed eventually by a deep breath of resignation as it's going to be a hard road ahead, but at least we have clear sensible goals now.

I don't mind if we outside nations have to re-negotiate our relationship with the US, by accepting that US interests come first. Nothing worse than taking things for granted. The world has become so ungrateful, taken advantage of US generosity.

And it has been embarrassing that you will find better infrastructure in say France than in the US. Now you've got a leader who believes in having 'the best'. That's great.

I'm just loving hearing the lamentations of their women.
The View was especially hilarious.
Most of CNN and Foxnews are just stunned.

I'm actually going to watch Hannity tonight to see all the gloating.

I just hope he and Drudge went to the Dr. about their erections lasting more than 4 hours.

From Down Under, congratulations. Your Constitution, surely the noblest political document ever penned, now seems safe from the carpetbaggers of the left. This bloke will make mistakes, but I have a Reaganish feeling about him; at least he won't be selling off the family jewellery to every mainchancer with $500 mill in small old bills in his hip kick. Giuliani for AG sounds good, he'll be in heaven with all the villains to deal with.
I can't speak for all men of goodwill, but I am one, and at 74 I'm a lot less worried about my grandkids than I was a couple of days ago.
Thank you, America, you struck a mighty blow for freedom yesterday.

Thank you, OSM, for the good thoughts and wishes.

"A bullet", but the other side has more ammo.

rinardman said...

Yeah, they have more ammo, but we just found out their aim isn't really as good as they think it is.

Happiness that evil was defeated, but knowing it is for the time being. It was a battle, not the last battle. Trump will have a hard row to hoe as evidenced by the nationwide protests. The laugh of the day goes to MSNBC's Rachel Maddow who said the protests were spontaneous.

Additionally, we don't know Trump. Hopefully he will choose his cabinet wisely, and make significant progress towards the goals he has laid out.

Congratulations, U.S.A.

Good riddance to the Clintons.
Hillary's throwing arm must be sore this morning.

"... and finally, in this election week, a heartwarming example of forgive and forget: Vince Foster voted for Hillary Clinton seventeen times across a dozen states. Good night, America."

I must admit I would not normally watch the coverage of a US election. But I flicked on the TV as Tim Blair was on one of the panels. I was in utter amazement as the results came in and I was hooked. What an amazing result and congratulations to Donald Trump on his historic win.

The silent majority is silent no more.

Of course it's not like he had a gun to his head.

You might want to stay tuned in. The people of "tolerance" started acting out in cities across the nation. Dump trucks and barricades were put in front of Trump Tower. Death threats are starting. This comes after Clinton instructed her supporters to be open-minded and give him a chance to lead, and Obama touted the peaceful transition of power as one of our hallmarks.

At this rate, Donald will have to be sworn in inside a bubble.

I think the street tanties are Soros's Moveon.

Bruce: I believe you're right about that. I grow increasingly angry that Soros seems to think that America - and, for that matter, the world - is his personal laboratory for social experimentation.
