On the subject of our government, in general, Andy at Ace of Spades has this sterling quote from H.L. Mencken:
The government consists of a gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with another, no special talent for the business of government; they have only a talent for getting and holding office. Their principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can't get and to promise to give it to them. Nine times out of ten that promise is worth nothing. The tenth time is made good by looting A to satisfy B. In other words, government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods.
Deborah said ... Joshua Boston expresses what so many people are thinking, and in terms even a senator can understand. However, he should not have done it as a military member. There will be repercussions.
ReplyDeleteSo Senator Feinstein, as the Beatles said, "You say you want a revolution....". Let's roll.
It is interesting that he is a Corporal after 8 years, or even 3.
Deborah, CPL Boston is retired from the Marines. Medically, I expect. But retired. He can speak his mind without repercussion under UCMJ.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be a rule which permits maximum ownership of firearms, but forbids politicians to be in possession of a firearm while serving a period in office.

… and then we can work on the politician's staffers.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Deborah said ... JeffS, somehow I missed his service years. Thank you for pointing that out. I was speaking as a Army vet ('76 - 84) and my Dad was career Navy.
