...the difficulty is that what you get may well be decidedly worse: "Downing Street indicates Netanyahu would be arrested in UK after ICC warrant".
There's a petition to force a no-confidence vote on PM Keir Starmer, and it has collected something like three quarters of a million signatures. UK has become a very sad specimen of the follies of woke-ism, Islamophilia and loss of confidence in western traditions. We were heading that way ourselves, here in the USA, but that trajectory has been knocked down, at least temporarily, by the election of Donald Trump. But we should always remember: the price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
Correction The petition being circulated is actually for a general election, and it has garnered over two million signatures.
As loathsome as Starmer is, I lay all the blame for this on the Conservative Party. They abandoned and betrayed the electorate and demonstrated that they hold no principles whatever. Were I a citizen of the UK I could not, in good conscience, have voted Tory last election.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I could not have voted Labour either. There was a perfectly viable third option, but the establishment had managed to make Reform radioactive that people were scared to vote for them. If it happens again, I doubt enough voters will swallow the Kool-Aid again.
And endorsed by Sir Michael Kane ...

Dogged adherence to Western ideas seems to have left us sitting ducks. For e.g. the Conservatives from Thatcher to John Major acquiesced in the handover of Hong Kong to China, because it was 'the right thing to do'. The USA in contrast invented philosophical Pragmatism in the 1870s, which may be significant:

About that Pommy petition... it's well past 750K signatures.
ReplyDeleteWELL past.

I figure it goes nowhere
ReplyDeleteThey care as much about what their subjects have to say as King George cared about what we had to say.
Fingers crossed!
I read that it has no weight, Starmer et al can ignore it, just like King George.
