At his presser yesterday, Trump wouldn't comment on if he had been briefed about the drones. But he did say that he disagrees with how the matter is being handled.
That said, the most reasonable speculation that I've seen about this fiasco comes from X, following this post:
Update to my comment ... ... turns out that the missing nuclear material is Germanium 86, a whopping amount of 0.05 grams. It's used to calibrate instruments, and has a realm short half-life.
The locals are reaching for explanations, while the feds gas lights the world.
That said, knowledgeable friends tell me that drones tracking some radioactive material is a plausible explanation.
Seems odd that the only places they've been seen are over places where Bubba and his 12Ga. don't live.

Specifically, a large amount of medical grade nuclear material went missing from the port, and the feds are concerned about a dirty bomb.
