I read a book about Soviet Albania (Hoxha)* when China built blast furnaces there. Except Chinese engineers were abruptly recalled when China withdrew from the Soviet, while the furnaces were in a warming stage so would explode without expert control. No one is truly friends with China, even Russians privately hate them. Only ever friends of convenience.

You can say that again! I'm put in mind of how China's been looting the natural resources of Africa, buying off the continent's strong men, depriving the people of most of the wealth that lies beneath their own feet.
