A hedger and his "land girl" demonstrate the rural craft of hedging.

    At first I thought "Land Girl" was just a colloquialism. But then I noted the patch on the young lady's left shoulder. So off to the interwebs I go.

    The Women's Land Army was a civil organization formed in the UK during WWI to recruit young women to work on farms to replace the men sent off to fight. It was disbanded after the war, but reinstated in 1939. The women were known as Land Girls or Land Lassies. Sort of an agricultural equivalent to our own Rosie the Riveter.
