Sunday funnies

Hey, man, I gotta make a pit stop.

Momma, you know we say grace in this house.

Looks like Greta Thunberg might wind up being part of the solution to the problems in Gaza (H/T: The mind is an unexplored country).

One reason the Services have trouble operating jointly is that they don’t appear to speak the same language.

For example, if you told Navy personnel to “secure a building,” they would turn off the lights and lock the doors.

Army personnel would occupy the building so no one could enter.

Marines would assault the building, capture it, and defend it with suppressive fire and close combat.

The Air Force, on the other hand, would take out a three-year lease with an option to buy.

Note: That last one has become a pet peeve. I am astonished at how often I am now hearing people use "went" as a past participle instead of "gone" (e.g., he had went to the store).

Do they suffer such abuses of the language in non-English speaking nations?

  2. Stupidity today is caused by the easy access to inaccurate information. Also known as, 'the Internet'.

    And tomorrow, known as 'AI'.

  3. The jargon issue is very real -- that Marine part actually happened soon after 9/11, in Hawaii IIRC.

But I have yet to see what the Space Force would do. That should be ... ... interesting.

    1. Hey, just had a thought. Wouldn't it be cool if the General in charge of Space Force dressed as Darth Vader?

    5. Apparently the militarisation of space began with the German V2 in 1944:

Then with the start of the Cold War the US began working on it, but rivalry between army and air force meant the work was divided into various agencies. So all the Space Force does is bring together stuff which was already there together under a single command. A no-brainer but they laughed at Trump I when he announced it.
