This evening, Mrs. Paco and I went over to Oak Island (about four miles from the Paco Command Center) and walked on the beach. One of the benefits of the southern barrier islands in North Carolina is that they generally run east to west, so you can watch the sun rise on your left, cross the sky in front of you during the day, and then set on your right.
It's too soon to see any potential impact from Hurricane Erin; the surf was pretty gentle, and there was little wind to speak of. I believe the hurricane is expected to stay out to sea, bringing it closer to the northern Outer Banks than to us (Hatteras Island is already under a mandatory evacuation order). May God watch over those folks.
Oak Island?
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice, but did you find Aztec Treasure?
Not that Oak Island.
DeleteCome to think of it, if I looked for it, I could probably find more gold here than those fellows on the other Oak Island.
get your metal detector and try your luck on the beach.
DeleteI hope you don’t get those torrential rains.
ReplyDeleteYes, we can do without those!
DeleteA glorious sunset! Thanks for the share ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for capturing God's marvelous handiwork! It's a good thing that the red sky is at sunset, according to that old sailors' advice.
ReplyDeleteMay you, Mrs. P, and all those effected by Erin be ok.
Thank you, Deborah. Good to hear from you.
