I was surprised to find out that three Americans were killed in Syria as a result of a Muslim terrorist attack: "3 Americans Just Died for Syria". God have mercy on their souls.
Why were they there? And although I generally trust Trump on foreign policy matters, I don't get his playing nice with Syria's new ruler. Wheels within wheels, I suppose, but I doubt that the families of the two dead National Guardsmen and their civilian interpreter are going to be content with an amorphous generality like that.
He tried pulling troops in his first term, Mattis lied and disobeyed.

I am with you though, we don't need troops there.
We should be sending jihadis and AKs, keep them busy there fighting each other, the way Allah intended.
I've read that this was an insider attack, and the terrorist was known to Syrian authorities as holding extremist (from our perspective) views.

As Syrian forces also continue to murder Christians, Druze, and other (ahem) "infidels", I seriously question Trump's decision to engage with the new Syrian "president".
If engagement with that thug is necessary, I prefer a JDAM. We need to get out of the Middle East, period.

Tomorrow, Sides C and B are allied against A.
The next day, side A, B and C ally against an offshoot of A. The next day, parts of A, B and C are fighting against other parts of A, B and C.
Meanwhile, sides E, D and F are doing the same thing.
They'll all ally with us to get money, arms and training, then fight us the next day.
It's a bowl of scorpions.
Send them AKs and RPGs and give transportation to any jihadis who want to go.
There is no reason whatsoever for us to be there, it's worse than useless, it's stupid.
