"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
There's a lot to be said on using latitude and longitude for locations ... ...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, our address was just R.R. 1 (Rural Route 1), so about the only one who could locate our house based on the address was the rural mail carrier, who just knew where everyone lived on each delivery route. Over the years they've changed it, so now anyone can locate my house based on just the address. Mainly done for fire trucks & ambulances, but now any Tom, Dick, or Harry can, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that's an improvement.
My favorite is still Fairchance Road at Cheat Lake, W Va.
ReplyDeleteMakes me laugh every time I drive by.
We got us a road here in Brunswick County called Straight and Narrow (I blogged about it years ago). And I'm periodically checking to see if any property goes for sale on Booger Holler Road in Stanly County.
DeleteI'm getting ready to buy a place in Kentucky with my own holler.
DeleteIt's gonna be a great range.
And then there's the intersection of Kitchen-Dick and Woodcock Roads, near Sequim, Washington ....
DeleteGood for you, V! A couple of our former neighbors moved there about six months ago, and they like it. Btw, tell Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder Paco says "hey".
