The GOP (more precisely, the GOP establishment or GOPe) is stupid because it consists mainly of people whose whole goal is to get elected and then they do nothing but rake in a lot of payola for the rest of their careers. The Democrats are stupid because they are so hungry for power they push ever more radical ideas to ignite the base, but the base eventually, as now, slips out of their control, and develops a desire for revolutionaries who mostly just succeed in toppling donk establishment figures. Hence, the recent primaries in New York: "The Democrats set themselves on fire".
