Austraian Aboriginies (or whatever the current term is) have a similar spear chucker called a Woomera. In use for many thousands of years. The leverage advantage of it and the aerofoil on the boomerang were pretty cool innovations for those primitive people.
I’m disappointed the bottle opening thing didn’t actually launch the bottle up in the air like I was expecting.

A sling stick looks simpler to make and use than an atl atl, although I expect that range is lower with the sling stick.
