Follow me home, little fella, and you can have all the rabbits you want!

During our morning walk, Mrs. Paco and I saw this little bobcat relaxing in the sun on the bank of one of the many ponds in the neighborhood.

  1. From the photo you were only a couple of paces away. He seems pretty relaxed about human proximity for a wild critter.

    1. That's not uncommon where urban and rural areas meet.

However, they are still wild; petting one would result in a very unpleasant reaction from the animal.

      If you were lucky.

    3. Yes, Fearless Paco laughs in the face of danger!

Actually, that's due to the zoom feature on my cell phone camera: the bobcat was on the opposite bank of the pond we were walking past, probably about 20 yards.

    4. While visiting Yellowstone National Park, once upon a time, I walked around one spot (I forget which one). The park had laid down a boardwalk, so the path was well marked.

I came one corner, and found myself maybe 15 feet from a bison (a/k/a buffalo). A bull. Just laying there in the grass, chilling out. Totally oblivious to the puny humans meandering past him.

At least, right at that moment. I elected to not test his patience, and hastened away.

    5. I keep seeing videos of people trying to take selfies with bison. I guess that's an example of what you call natural selection.

  2. We handle encounters with the local fauna differently here. Naturally, the solution includes a LOT of swearing.

    2. On country roads you might see a group of roos, particularly around dawn or dusk. Sometimes they all bounce away, but one will suddenly swing about and go for your car. They're very unpredictable.
