paco, I've always loathed those larger than life portraits of living persons in any location, in large part because I view them as vanity. Smaller photos, fine, especially when intended to show who the bosses are.
But that Orwellian version of The One™ clearly is for vanity and domination. If I worked there, I'd be tempted to paint a moustache and horns on it.

Guy's got an ego the size of...well...nevermind...but I'm glad I don't work for him. I get the impression he thinks G-d sits at his right hand, not the other way around.
Orwell's Big Brother idea was probably based on Augustus/Octavian Caesar, who seems to have invented the concept of 'rule by image', mass-producing specially designed statues of himself to be displayed across his empire.
Whether Obama knows it or not, that wall portrait is very Augustan.
That rumbling sound in the distance are the Founding Fathers spinning in their graves, in perfect sync.
