This is insane (H/T: Wimpy Canadian, in the comments)
Update: This stupid idea has led to widespread outrage (H/T, once again, to Wimpy).

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
I call racism and genderism.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the Nov. 27-Dec. 3 issue of the Charlatan for full coverage.
ReplyDeleteAptly named, I'd say.
This is political correctness with rabies, and it's infecting racism and genderism. A thing that I thought impossible until now.
ReplyDelete"Recently revealed"!?
ReplyDeleteMaybe they can shoot for sickle cell anemia, that's a broad spectrum disease.
What' a Kweku Winful anyway? I'd pay good and earnest money to hear Barbara Walters say that name three times!
Er, that was the Yojimbo and not Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteThe place has been going downhill since the Panda Game was cancelled.

What's wrong with that? Who want's to save the next Hitler's life? Not me.
ReplyDeleteMy son has cystic fibrosis and -- yes -- he is white. And male. But over the years since he was diagnosed, I have been to the funerals of too many young women -- some in their teens -- who died of the effects of CF. I can't decide whether I am more appalled by the ignorance of the resolution or its meanness. I sent the following comment back to the newspaper:
ReplyDelete+++++++++++++++
I am astounded by both the ignorance and the vicious mean-spiritedness of this resolution. No, CF does not affect only 'white' people. And I would be happy to put whatever ignoramus wrote the resolution in contact with any number of young women who struggle daily with the effects of cystic fibrosis. After you get past the lack of awareness and meanness of the thing, though, the central flaw of the resolution is that it betrays no consciousness of what 'charity' means -- probably because the writer has none in his heart. And that I can do nothing about.
RNB
RNB, it was acknowledged that CF strikes MOSTLY men...so though aware that it's a 'seemingly' racist, gender-specific disease, THEY DON'T CARE!
ReplyDeleteWhat pathetic excuses for Humans these monsters are.
RNB: God bless your son, RNB, and good on you for sending that letter (and thanks for sharing it with us).
ReplyDeleteYes, this whole thing is completely over-the-top in many ways. Here are two:
ReplyDeleteFirst is the CUSA woman who got on the radio and didn't defend the party position ... because there was no question in her mind how irrelevant the racist criticism was. Racism wasn't anywhere near her neurons, though; the question didn't even enter her small mind. Hey, white males are the source, not target, of racism.
Secondly, much of the debate has centered around whether CF is a white male desease. The debate should focus on the socialist idea of denying healthcare to a politically incorrect group.
Okay, fine, as a straight man, no money of mine goes to AIDS research any more. And being white, screw sickle cell. And as for breast cancer, you bitches can shove your pink ribbons.
ReplyDeleteAnd Africa? They can give themselves their own damn money.
This is absolutely vile behavior, and these scumsuckers don't deserve to live among human beings. I hope they all get afflicted by some disease that I do not and will not support research into.
