“Democrats are going where they're growing,” he said, while Republicans are isolating themselves in a fading portion of the population – old, white, less-educated, highly religious Southerners.

Really. Seems to me he's overlooking a whole lot of conservative African-Americans (although a lot of them haven't realized what their Democratic Party has become of late), conservative legal immigrants (many of whom actually know firsthand what it's like to live under real oppression), American Indians, who are overwhelmingly patriotic (despite the vocal antics of racial antagonists and Ward Churchill wannabes) and young white people who still believe in honor, duty, and love of country.

But...sigh... white Southerners, whether old, young, or even native, are still the acceptable targets of bigotry.

MorTAHN...as John McLaughlin said...Fred Barnes is NONE of what you described.

Neither is Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, Michael Steele, just to name a few.
