Assortment

1) J. G. Thayer considers some of the, er, “counter-intuitive” choices made by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee over the last 35 years.

2) Dogfight at Bankstown marks yet another example of the decline of western civilization.

3) Leslie Carbone indicates that the auto bailout seems to have been cut down to $15 billion, but she’s still not happy (neither am I). Dan Riehl has more, as does Extreme Mortman.

4) Robert Stacy McCain (“The Other McCain”) celebrates the inherent conservatism of vampires.

5) Muscular Christianity.

  1. An interesting exercise is how many peace prize recipients you'd still award with the benefit of hindsight. They fall into 3 categories: long forgotten and thus impossible to judge, still deserving and should be revoked.

Of the still deserving it seems the pre war lot seem to hold up best (although here you also find the whothehellishes). Teddy Roosevelt and George Marshall are still deserving. Post war seems evenly split between the revoke and the still deserving. Of this latter category it seems they are largely harmless and do good works (Mother Theresa and the Dalai Lama). Of the revoke, well Carter, Arafat, Gore ... You may put them on the list!

  3. You're very welcome, Leslie!

Incidentally, I found Leslie Carbone's web site through Righty Blogs, a great portal that allows one to explore the right wing of blogdom state by state.
