What Now?

Komodo dragons are terrorizing Indonesian villages.

The picture that accompanies the story has the following caption: “In this photo taken on April 28, 2009, a Komodo dragon moves out of a toilet at a visitor center on Rinca…” As is well known, Komodo dragons never flush, so I don’t blame the Indonesians for freaking out.

  5. The villagers used to feed the lizards which, like snakes, then sit around for weeks digesting their meal. Environmentalists stopped this because it made the lizards stop hunting. (Cue 'Born Free...').

So the hungry lizards are now hunting, just as the enviros wanted. To a lizard, what's the difference between a pig and an 8 yr old child?

Old superstitions of making food offerings to the 'spirits' of the wild no doubt had a practical origin. Here's proof.

  6. Bruce - same difference as children or dogs to a gator...or wolf...or even a polar bear?
