Violence in Iran

The excellent Michael Totten is tracking the aftermath of the elections in Iran (be sure to click on those videos!) Ahmadinejad has been declared the winner, but a substantial number of angry people think they've been had (and they're probably right).

More from Hot Air. "'I mean, just look at this! If Ahmadinejad won 25 million votes, which they claim, we should be celebrating, right?’ an onlooker commented.” One would think so, yes.

Update: Donald Douglas at American Power weighs in.

Update II: Great roundup of coverage from NTCNews.

Ah-sneezed-in-ma-bed clearly learned a lot from Obama when it comes to vote rigging.

Allah also points out that Obama is avoiding the chance to smack the Iranian theocrats hard. Naturally.

In the same streets and squares where young Iranians were dancing and waving green banners in support of Mousavi days ago, baton-wielding police chased and beat mobs of hundreds of demonstrators chanting, "Down with dictatorship!" and "Give me my vote back!

Let's hope and pray that this doesn't happen in the USA come 2012.

So were the police actually chanting slogans while beating the reprobates?

Cheers

Gee whiz. I can remember Iran used to be a close ally of the US. In the Seventies, Iran sent more students to high school conventions than any other nation, even Canada. We were tight.

By 1980 it all went 180 degrees. What happened? Something must have happened, oh during the period of 1977 to 1980 to screw up our relationship. Wonder what that could have been?

And for that matter, what happened to the 45 cents a gallon I used to pay for gasoline in 1976. Skyrocketed like crazy. Happened then too.
