Bill Moyers Fears Cerebral Riots

Smitty at The Other McCain links to a piece at Newsbusters which records the further maunderings of liberal gasbag Bill Moyers. Moyers claims that Rush Limbaugh and other right-wing radio talk show hosts "earn millions inciting riots in the public mind. If they were required to be fair, they would soon be penniless, out on the street, cup in hand.”

This is pretty rich, coming from Moyers, who has milked the Public Broadcasting System for millions of dollars, and who, without a public subsidy, would, himself, be standing outside a Metro station, empty Slurpee cup in hand, trying to bum spare change.

That's the same Bill Moyers who was LBJ's consigliere for IRS harrassment of his enemies,if anyone's keeping score...

I'm quite taken with the phrase 'inciting riots in the public mind'. In its own incoherent ways it implies any number of surreal situations - torch-wielding hooligans running and shouting straight through your brain, perhaps. Or possibly multiple personality disorders, schizophrenias, and other mental pathologies, suddenly and fearsomely manifesting themselves on the public street and going about smashing things.

TimT: The fantasy implications are, indeed, intriguing.

Sounds like TimT is describing a Democratic Caucus meeting. "Helter Skelter" synaptic style.

I know I had a riot going on in my mind the other night, but it mostly had to do with whether I should indulge in a rare bowl of Moose Tracks ice cream with a double dollop of Special Dark chocolate syrup (sometimes you just get that craving, y'know?). I don't suppose that's the kind of riot ol' Bill meant though.

Rebecca: the kind of thing you're talking about would never give me a moment's pause!

I had a riot ion my mind one time.

No, really.

Fortunately, my Id was able to put it down with a double-barreled shotgun and lots of threats. Coulda got ugly.

But you know what they say in Radio Prison - one riot, one Id.

Or something like that.
