Of the many honorifics, both official and otherwise, that have been bestowed on Barack Obama - president, lightworker, FDR II - the one with which he seems to feel truly ill at ease is Commander in Chief. Never was this level of discomfort more apparent than in his speech on Afghanistan tonight at West Point, quite possibly the weakest he has delivered on U.S. soil, on any subject, since his election (Chris Matthews, by the way, is already being criticized for a controversial comment he made this evening; however, based on the concept of typewriters and a room full of monkeys, Matthews, in his own, quirky way, actually spelled out something coherent: Obama chose to give this speech "in the enemy camp". I'm reasonably sure that's the way, in a political sense, the president does see it).
Anyhow, Stephen Green drunk is way smarter than the Smartest President Ever. And Charles Krauthammer, as usual, provides the most intellectually elegant analysis.

Cheers
G'day Paco.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of idiot puts timetables on wars?
Better still, what kind of idiot thinks, :OK, good idea. That'll work?"
Patton he ain't.
ReplyDeleteBOAB, Obama isn't fit to grease the treads of Patton's tank.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post and link to Krauthammer - I decided to shop for groceries and one of the few Christmas gifts I'm buying this year...took me WAY past time for the drivel spouted by BarryO the Ditherer. No loss, I always have Paco!
ReplyDeleteSo you're saying that I did the right thing by waiting outside in the cold for over an hour to vote in a State Senate special election primary?
ReplyDeleteI see that Barry O. has brought his "apology tour" to West Point. Who woulda thunk?

I didn't watch this eleventy-hundredth speech because I figured I could get the whole thing off the internet without having to listen to that voice.
ReplyDeleteIt all makes Obama sound like he was being shoved off a cliff. What a complete failure of a CiC (and no, that doesn't stand for "Communist-in-Chief", although it may by the time it's all over).
Isophorone: Yes, you did the right thing.
ReplyDeletePaco, I think the term was "lightworker". I don't think Obie's loafer load was factored in...

Richard: You're right; I changed it.
