The lovely and tuneful Boswell sisters sing “The Heebie Jeebies”.
Rule 5 Bonus:
A terrific tribute to the late, great Jean Simmons at Seraphic Secret.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
The Boswells are not as well known as the Andrews sisters, but were indeed very - equally, or better? - talented. They'd soaked up the blues idiom pretty well, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteIn soloists perhaps the parallel is how well Julie London is recognised compared to Jo Stafford.
At least the equal of the Andrews sisters, in their close harmony and, as you say, their proficiency in the blues idiom.
ReplyDeleteNever 'oid of dem. And since I'm on a dialup connection I still never 'oid of dem. I don't know much about that "blues idiom" thingy but I'll take "I'll be with you in apple blossom time" over anybody anytime. Just one fools opinion, of course.
ReplyDeleteJulie London had certain ahh,er, well, hmmm attributes that Jo Stafford lacked. One of the things she lacked, however, was an ability to do "You belong to me" like Jo Stafford could.
