Scott Brown Beats Democrat Monopoly

Martha Coakley had her chance and blew it, as Republican Scott Brown parlayed a down-to-earth, straightforward campaign, voter dissatisfaction with the Massachusetts Democratic party machine and concern over the scope of Obama’s statist policies into a stunning victory.

Ted Kennedy is no doubt having the dry heaves rolling over in his grave.

The most important ramification of this victory is the possibility that the Democratic health care plan may be derailed. True, the donks may find a way to finesse passage of their bill, but I tend to think that more than a few of the Democratic lemmings are going to decide that dying peacefully in bed at a respectable old age beats jumping off a cliff into the icy waters of political oblivion.

“Well, folks, the game is Obama Care poker. Mr. President, looks like it’s your bet.”

  2. WOOHOO! This means Obamacare is all but dead, right?

Unless Barney Frank succeeds in changing the rules.

  3. It's ironic that O!bama, Ted Kennedy's personal pick for president, played a significant role in converting the Kennedy dynastic throne into a populist bar stool.

Or maybe not.....Ted Kennedy never could see beyond the end of his, er, ah, ummmmmmm, nose.

  5. Jeffs,

I am sure some more sentient Dems are observing the pattern: The Wun has been to Copenhagen, twice .. and achieved nothing (at best). Now he flies into Boston Mombasachewsits and he supports a dem, who then loses.

I provide the dots, you connect them.

  7. Robert: That is the so-called "dead man's hand" (aces and eights). It was the hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot and killed in a saloon in Deadwood, Dakota Territory, 1876.

  8. Aces & eights... bad illustration.

Wild Bill was shot in the back. We are taking the Dems head on.

(Robert of Ottawa, black aces and eights are 'the dead man's hand.' It was what Wild Bill Hickock was holding when he was bushwhacked and murdered from behind.)

  9. Steve: The idea is that Obama, dealt a reasonably good hand when he was elected, is going to fail to profit by it (and, yes, if Wild Bill had accidentally shot himself, the symbolism would indeed have been perfect).

  10. Robert, it's equally ironic that Ted Kennedy, who was a loser in that he held onto his Senate seat primarily through his wealth and family influence, enthusiastically endorsed O!bama, who wouldn't be anywhere without his family's wealth, and destroys everything Ted Kennedy dreamed up.

I just wish we could hook Kennedy's corpse to a generator; the Northeast wouldn't have to build any more power plants for at least a generation.

  12. The good people of Massachusetts told pollster after pollster that they wanted to send a message to Washington. My! My! That message has been received loud and clear:

    "WE'RE NOT PAYING ATTENTION!"

    Congratulations, Massachusetts!

  13. Yippee! Obamacare is all but dead, and maybe so is the rest of his "transformation of America"!

I think the Democrats didn't try to pull this one out with their usual dirty tricks because too much of the nation's attention was on the race. Plus, Brown won big!

Hooray for a straight uppercut to Obama/Pelosi/Reid's glass jaw!
