Those Big Blog Bucks!

Stacy McCain has a good post up about Hot Air's acquisition by Salem Communications, which also owns Townhall.

I think I'll put Paco Enterprises on the block. Let's see how it goes!

Hmmm, it's your writing and editorial skills which make this place, Paco. And IMHO those skills of yours are certainly marketable.

Reading your "Wheels came off - stay vigilant" editorial I wondered if you write professionally, for example speeches. If not, and there's more money in it than what you're doing now, you should certainly consider it.

Also your similes are just brilliant.

Thank you, Bruce, for your kind words. I don't write professionally, although I'd like to.

I will agree to stay on at Paco Enterprises as a paid employee.

seventeen... nineteen... twenty-three... OK folks, if I can reach a dollar I'll be soliciting investment partners for the acquisition...

Paco, I have $1.37 of loose change in my pocket that I can bid with. If Richard can beat that, I'll dig through the couch for a few more nickels.

A bidding war! Cool!

I thought you did write professionally. Fictional prose isn't an accurate characterization of annual evaluations, employee and otherwise?

And TRJ! You would have more money with which to bid if you would stop sending those care packages to Ebola.:)

Yojimbo: Yes, part of my job is writing all kinds of reports, memos, and yes, performance appraisals, so I guess that counts as being paid for creative writing.

Paco, we implore you to never give in to the financial forces. Remember what happened to our clubhouse over at Tim's. Unless, of course, we all chip in. In the meantime, don't quit the day job. The chipping might take awhile. How much are we up to now?

During my tour of Germany with the US Army this lowly Spec 4 (at the time) had to write for a West Point graduate. You're probably under appreciated in your job as I was then. Hopefully, our sentiments make up for it.

Paco, have you really thougth about what it would be like having Levi Jordan auction you? All the strutting about in...well, whether it's boxers or briefs...it's still...akward. And then there's Wron.

Deborah: You know, the very first Detective Paco story I put up at Tim's old place was really a reworked version of something that I had written previously - a credit memo that I had put into film noir dialogue (for my own amusement, of course; not something that I actually used to document a transaction).

Right then, Packers old chum, I have 139 million Zimbabwean pounds that I am prepared to commit on the spot. Two minor caveats: since I can't actually move them out of the country due to some charmingly anachronistic currency laws, you'll have to go spend them in Zimbabwe and their actual cash value is about $9.25 US. Frankly I haven't been this liquid since the lira collapsed in the 70's and I'm sure you'll want to jump at this opportunity.

Yojimbo, my man! I was merely supporting the troops. In my own little way, of course.....
