Noir: "Out Of The Past" is excellent, Bob Mitchum is perfect and Kirk Douglas in pretty much his first screen appearance.
ReplyDeleteBut my favorite is Vic Mature in "Kiss of Death"
Out of the Past is my favorite film noir, bar none. In fact, it's one of my favorite movies, period.
ReplyDeleteBut I like Kiss of Death, too, and not just because the woman in the wheelchair that Richard Widmark shoves downstairs reminds me of my evil sister-in-law. The scene where Mature and his gang are riding down in the elevator after robbing the jewelry shop is almost unbearably tense; and the final segment, where Mature faces Tommy Udo in the restaurant and verbally smacks him down...great stuff!
