I suspect we are giving this dumb stoned f*** more attention than he merits... which is probably the point of his statements...

"Mel Gibson without the Tourette's"... I love that!

Oliver is only a serious film maker in his own mind. Everyone else has long ago realized the truth. The seminal question to folks like Stone is, why haven't you relocated to one of your Marxist utopias? The answer, of course, is freedom.

I'd say Stone is a Noam Chomsky-style self-hater.

Alas Mel Gibson. I knew him from a distance here in Sydney in the 70's, we're about the same age. I still admire his substantial talent and am heartbroken to see what he's going through. He's not anti-Semitic - he spent his whole career in Hollywood and here in Australia working with Jews. I recall he may have had a Jewish girlfriend who he was deeply attached to. We went to the same university and lunched with the same group. Onstage he is a powerful acting presence. Offstage he was shy, gawky and introverted. He was not at all macho. He never hung out with the guys. Instead he was always with his current girlfriend. He chose strong intelligent successful women (she was a TV Star) to be with and shyly deferred to them.

I don't believe Gibson's problem is anti-Semitism or racism. It's emotional.

Stone, on the other hand, is possessed of that special kind of abysmal stupidity only a leftist elite can have. And being a leftist elite, his penalty will be - nada. Zip. Zilch. The big goose egg. His pals will cluster around, clucking sympathetically about how those dumb racist clingers in flyover country are incapable of appreciating his special kind of genius.

Oh, and blame Bush.
