"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
I read another article (I forget where) that discussed how people steal entire homes from the owners. By simply occupying them, and claiming they're renters. The legal system is so ponderous that the owners generally are out of luck.
ReplyDeleteAnd the police? 'Tis to laugh.
The UK is sliding down the hill towards Third World status. A sober lesson for Americans....if we only listen.
Part of the problem is that the UK is quickly turning into a nation of alcoholics a la Russia. The other part (a major one) is the nannyish socialism they've slid into. How does one justify police action for such anti-social acts as "littering"? If they dropped the doubleplus ungood newspeak, the problem might not seem quite as dire.
ReplyDeleteAs for the police, I get the impression that they're blindfolded and hobbled by their politically correct management.
Not that I approve of littering, mind you. I just think things like that belong more to the realm of peer pressure than policing.
