Life, liberty and the pursuit of beer!

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation is getting ready to bring out Monticello Reserve Ale.

H/T to that eminent historian of beer and ale (and many other things), the estimable Captain Heinrichs.

Hmmm... knowing Jefferson's disturbing Francophilia I'd be suspicious of the beer. Might have snails in it.

I no longer drink Sam Adams after reading an interview with the founder. He'd just returned from Europe, buying hops. He admitted that hops could be obtained in the US, but just as with wine, if you wanted the best you went to Europe.

"Screw you, you pompous Euro-wienie" I muttered into my Henry Weinhard's, and I shook the dust of Philadelphia from my feet and never looked back.

You're right, he's wrong; he should be sourcing his hops from BC.

Cheers

Baja California? They don't grow hops in Mexico, dum-dum!

Had a bar handing out samples of a beer supposedly made with "65 million year old yeast" (why, yes, that was my eyebrow twitching upwards) that some paleo-botanist came up with.

Tasted like crap. End of interest.
