SOTU STFU!

Do you plan to watch the president's State of the Union speech tonight? I don't. The chances are practically zero that it will be anything but a litany of banal platitudes, or a transparently insincere head-fake to the center (or both). Boilerplate and perjury. No, thanks.

Update: If you've simply gotta know what he said, I highly recommend Steve Green's drunkblogging of the speech.

SwampMan has threatened to shoot out the screen if he sees or hears that bastard on any television station this (or any other) evening, so I suppose I'll pass.

I know exactly how he feels.

Nope. I make it a point to avoid watching him speak. I expect he'll call for bipartisanship... after two years of belittling me, insulting me, sneering at me, laughing away my concerns at the runaway growth of government power, claiming bankrupting the nation creates jobs and save money, and insulting our allies while sucking up to our foes. He's sent his enablers and lackeys and toadies to call me racist, violent, ignorant, fearful, and stupid.

He has nothing to say to me, that he hasn't already made plain by word and deed. He's already made it plain that he is not my President.

I want to hear Paul Ryan's response, and Ace is live blogging the SOTU. His commenters un-PC, NSFWOH take will provide some laughs atleast.

Retread

PS: And it'll be the best excuse for a single malt I'm going to have this week.

I won't be watching. Gave them up during the Traitor's Administration,er, Bill Clinton's presidency.

Have plenty of work to do and Ohio State and Purdue on at the same time.

Heck, no! I get enough bloviating, posturing, lying, maneuvering, a$$hatery, incompetence, greed, corruption, and back stabbing at work as it is. An after-duty hours dose of The Chicago Way I don't need.

We have a pres, preside? Just cannot type that that word.

Watch? Why-Hell-No!

Technically it's not perjury, since he is not under any oath except the one he took when he was sworn in, and let's face, that one's been rid hard and put away wet...

My TV is off just in the freak event that it turns itself on to this. I've got better things to do than listen to the TOTUS in audio book form...that grout won't scrub itself out...

My plan was to watch The Haney Project instead of The Current Occupant. THAT plan was disrupted by doing an online 12th Step call.

Kept me from doing what SwampMan threatened, so good for everyone involved.

He has nothing to say to me, that he hasn't already made plain by word and deed. He's already made it plain that he is not my President.

Pretty much says it all, thanks, Steve.

Couldn't have watched it since we had an American Legion Executive Board meeting. Well, one of us did. But as things happened, Richard McEnroe and I ended up with a front row seat to major police activity. Eight patrol cars, a command center, K-9 unit, support unit, mobile armory, SWAT, several unmarked cars, and of course, helicopter(s). Who knew Denny's had a dinner show? Way more fun than meeting, or the SOTU.
