Whew!

What a week. No computer, Mrs. Paco struck low by an asthma attack, me getting some kind of pulmonary infection, not to mention a number of etceteras.

Anyhow, trying to catch up, here. The big news this weeks seems to be:

1) Obama proposed the most cynical budget in history. His plan seems to be to punt on fiscal and entitlements reform to the Republicans, then use those reforms (or attempted reforms) as a club in 2012 against the GOP for no better reason than to get his sorry ass reelected.

2) There's a huge showdown in Wisconsin between the unions and, apparently, everybody else (more from POWIP).

3) If you're wondering how serious the Democrats are about the budget crisis, you can stop wondering now.

4) Based on actual coverage, I don't suppose this is technically big news, but the possibility that the ATF may have been smuggling guns into Mexico to bolster its claims concerning the origin of weapons south of the border sure ought to be making headlines.

Thanks for all your good wishes, and for keeping Paco Enterprises going in my absence with your comments. You'll all find a little something extra in your pay envelopes this week. Oh, and whoever cooked up the clam chowder, that ceramic pot with one handle is not a soup tureen.

Rebecca: Glad to hear Mr. H made it through that harrowing experience, and hope he's well along the road to recovery.

"Whew!" is right -- I hope Mrs. Paco is doing all right!

As for #4......I ain't surprised. Not in the least.

Mrs. Paco is doing better, but she had a bad reaction to some asthma medication and came down with a (thankfully) short-term case of hypoglycemia. I've got a chest cold or something (everybody at work seems to have it), and I coughed so hard I got a pinched nerve in my lower back. I'm sure that, in profile, I look like that primate ancestor four or five steps behind Homo sapiens in the famous "Evolution of Man" drawing.

But nothing - nothing - is keeping me from going to Virginia Arms this weekend to pick up my Ruger .40 caliber pistol with two 15-round magazines.

Obviously Mrs. Paco had medical care and good for her.

Howz' about the Neanderthal and medical care before he pinches another nerve?

Sorry to hear about Mrs Paco, but glad to hear that all is nearly well now, take care of that cold Paco, and hope the pinched "nerve" is soon dealt with to, [a trip to the physio maybe?]
RebeccaH keep taking each day as it comes.
By the way, you are all wrong Paco was spotted with wronwright in Egypt.

Re: Obama's budget
Don't you remember, during the debates, when Obama promised a "net spending cut"?

Obviously, the last couple years have been a bit profligate so surely he must be planning the net spending decrease in the context of a 4 year average. I can only guess that his plan is to spend like a drunken sailor for 3 years and then for his fourth year, if necessary, he'll insist on spending absolutely nothing. Right?

Wow. That's a bad run Paco.

Life is setting some serious tests for some of us. If my supportive wishes are any use, you have them.

One day at a time. We'll get there.

Thanks, Paco and company. Mr. H is on the mend, but still has a way to go.

Paco, don't fool around with the "cold". There is a nasty, nasty bug going around this year, and Mr. H ended up where he did because he ignored what he thought was a cast of flu (he also thought he had pulled a muscle in his lower back from moving furniture, but it turned out to be abcesses between his lung and chest wall). Just sayin'.

I'm glad Mrs. P is doing better.

glad you are back, and hopefully everything is normal (whatever that is) with both of you healthy again.

Yikes! Thank God you're both okay. To think that you and Mrs. P survived a reaction to medication, hypoglycemia, pulmonary infection, severe coughing, and a pinched nerve...all without a computer. Surely, a testament to the hardiness of citizens of the Occupied Northern Virginia. Is Mabel okay?

Ya need to take care of that cough. Our own Richard McEnroe has been fighting coughing spells since Christmas. Still don't know what it is. Thankfully, the spells are less frequent and now mild. They were really bad.

By-they-way, that wasn't clam chowder. Thankfully that was discovered beforehand.

Jeff: I can't wait to pick it up!

I've also placed an order for the considerably less practical (but extremely beautiful) Uberti New Russian top break in .44 Russian caliber. It's back-ordered, but I should get it in the next few weeks.

SWEET!!!! Like a Webley, only in Russian.
