Well, you know that saying that's going around:

Taxes are for chumps.

In other news, the tax for just owning a damn airplane is almost 75,000 dollars a year.

Well, it ain't just any damn airplane. Missouri's base use tax for aircraft is 4.225%. Working backwards from the delinquent tax bill, and it's worth around $1.7 million (couldn't find the manufacturer or model, though).

I don't know about you folks, but if *I* shelled out $1.7 million for something, I'd dang sure be using it.

And that's ignoring the operation and maintenance costs. Not to mention the cost of having a pilot available.

Somehow, I find her protestations hollow sounding.

But then, I am a cynic when it comes to politicians, for some odd reason.

Wow! That's just her half! Funny, that her hubby's accountant didn't contact her account. They could have done this over lunch. On second thought, the taxpayers would have footed that bill too.

I didn't know that first timers made that much. She's going to cut them a check for a quarter mil just like that?! Nice job if you can get it.

"Damn plane" indeed. She probably didn't like the food we were serving.
