They might be waiting a long time

Marc Thiessen says that Obama owes CIA interrogators an apology.
In normal times, the officials who uncovered the intelligence that led us to Osama bin Laden would get a medal. In the Obama administration, they have been given subpoenas.
This is one reason why I’m not joining the throngs who have saluted Obama for his “gutsy” call. I doubt that any president save for a President Dennis Kucinich (shudder!) would have purposely missed the opportunity to grab or take out Osama bin Laden. But I have no reason to believe that Obama has seriously reconsidered his opposition to the methods which made this action possible. So what do we do – God forbid – should there be a next time? Because as Marc says in another article, the war ain’t over.

I don't understand why so many people think that Islamist terrorism is just going to stop now that bin Laden is dead. It doesn't make sense.

Rebecca, the left made such a huge issue of Bush not capturing OBL (it was a minor campaign issue, IIRC), that many people seem to think that was the whole purpose of the Global War On Terrorism (as Bush called; Obama changed it to "Overseas Contingency Operations").

But while OBL was a prime target, he was not the final objective: preventing terrorist attacks on the United States. You, I, and other people with their heads out in the open air know this.

The uninformed voters and useful idiots of the world, not so much.

Well Jeff, won't said uninformed voters and useful idiots be tres surprised when the next weedy little jihadi tries to blow somebody up or shoot some people.

Speaking of Kookcinich, it seems the redistricting plan via the last census will take his seat away from him. Fox reported that he is actually thinking about moving to Washington state to run there. Pleasant dreams TRJ.:) Although I heard it was new seat in a northern suburb of Seattle so he shouldn't be pounding on your door for votes.

Yeah, "gutsy call." It took him sixteen hours, including nine holes of golf, to say "Yeah, do it."

Balls. Of. Steel!

Yeah, Yojimbo, just what we need here in the Pacific Northwest, yet another nutty professional politician. Yech!

But I suppose that he can't wean himself off the Congressional teat. Must be mighty tasty, with all that sweet sweet taxpayer money.

Bloody hell!

I just spent ten minutes tapping out a comment for you Paco, then lost the whole thing to the netherworld.

I won't try to do it over, will just recommend to you a film I watched yesterday, which I had never heard of, but because Samuel L. Jackson was starring, thought I'd give it a go.

After reading your post, I believe this film is definitely worth watching.

It is called "Unthinkable".

I apologise in advance if you do watch it. It is intense, brutal, frightening, but timely, considering we now know that water boarding was one of the main reasons the US had the intel to be able to dispatch bin Laden.

It is about the choices we have to make to protect ourselves.
