A heartbeat away

It is amazing how liberals both fear and scorn Sarah Palin - entertaining surreal visions of a Palin presidency as representing something like a fascist state run by Lucy Ricardo - and yet never give a second thought to the kind of chief executive Joe Biden would make. When last seen, the Vice President of the United States - the serious, seasoned, experienced, politically savvy Vice President of the United States - was engaged in a squirt-gun fight with journalists.

Hell, they don't even notice that our current president is about as competent as Gilligan.

I prefer to think of Obama and Biden as Ren and Stimpy, Jorg.

But I take your meaning.

More like Mack and Meyer. They were never even good enough to make it to Abbot & Costello level...

Irobot: I'm touched that you should remember. Thank you. It's also Flag Day here in the U.S.

Bruce: Thanks for the multilingual good wishes!

I remember there are three things I've commemorated on this day for a very long time:
1) Flag Day (all my life)
2) Husband's birthday (29 years)
3) Paco's birthday (9 years now, since we "met" at Blair's?)

Happy Birthday, Paco!

A couple of years ago you mentioned Flag Day in the U.S. and the fact that Flag Day shares the important anniversary of you birth. I share the date of birth, albeit maybe slightly less years than your good self.

So as long as I draw breath, have access to a computer and have not suffered a degradation of my cognitive faculties, I will always send best wishes from Down Under for you birthday.

Have a great day.

prairiecat55kc - Best wishes to your husband as well. We are in good company.

I may miss the occasional letter when typing a comment through lack of sleep though.

Well, Irobot, happy birthday to you, too!

Thanks, Prairie Cat. I've always been particularly proud about having been born on Flag Day (although I had nothing to do with it).

Apropos nothing, I guess.

When I first saw the picture, I thought "Who's the woman in camo?"

And, HB Paco!

May your flag always be flown by the winds of good fortune.

Happy birthday, Paco and Mr. Prairiecat.

As for our soon-to-be erstwhile leadership, I've long thought they were Mutt and Jeff personified.

Oops, forgot. Happy birthday also to Irobot.

Happy birthday to Mr. Cat, PC.
