Happy 4th!
Pictured is an action scene from the Siege of Yorktown, where the last major land battle of the American Revolutionary War took place - more than five years after the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
And, lest we forget, we're still fighting for our freedom - and always will be.
Update: If you only read one Independence-Day-themed blog essay today, I recommend this one by Jeff Goldstein.

ReplyDeleteRight as usual, Paco. We are always fighting for our freedoms. It reminds me of a segment of the oath that military recruits pledge..."against all enemies foreign and dometic". There is never a time when this is not true. We must be ever vigilent and ready to action against all enemies, or the freedoms we enjoy will be no more. If we are not willing to take action action, then we are poor stewards. Further the ultimate sacrifice that so many have given will be disgraced by our inaction.
