Moo On

Marion D.S. Dreyfus treks into the heart of darkness.
In the spirit of ecumenism, and convinced that there is too much one-sidedness in the political discussion now riving the country, I attended my first (and probably only) meeting of MoveOn.org, the radical progressive organization that, backed by the billions of Richie Rich radical mover and shaker George Soros, has spearheaded so much dissension since the advent of Bush 43, and now continues to fulminate against those on the right who stand against the dubious programs of President Barack Obama.

The location promised a swank coop, perhaps, or at least a brownstone with antiques and sky-high views of the UN, but no. The actual venue was down a dark alley, with a cage in the rear for two straining-at-the-leash doberman pinschers. It was a basement bunker that evoked the hideouts of the Partisans during WWII, with space for some 25 to 30 people of varying ages and incomes.

What was remarkable, in the drum-roll of incessant calls for union strength and punish the "rich" and the "obscene pay of CEOs" of those rich corporations, was that President Obama was not mentioned even once in three hours. Either he is deemed irrelevant or his performance is so weak that mentioning him is considered a compromising element in a group-think aiming at strength.
Do read the whole thing.

  1. I acted innocent and credulous, since just attending this event was one of the most difficult things I have done this year.

Yes, I can see how hard that was. I couldn't have done it. At the very least, I would have pointed out that someone has to pay for all of these great ideas.....and then asked how many of those cretins had private sector jobs.

At which point, I'd be running for my life.

  2. I think that Soros may be a greater threat to our country than any other individual alive. I believe that many on the left, including the Pres., are simply his puppets.

  3. I wonder if it ever dawned on them that they are funded by a bunch of rich CEO's like Soros and the Progressive Insurance guy(I think they co-founded MoveOn). There is a lot of Hollywood money in MOveOn as well. I remember when Clinton did his tax the rich legislation the two groups he singled out for exemption-Hollywood and sports. I'll stop now so the irony key on my keyboard stays intacct for another day.

  4. That seems typical of every group of lefties I've ever known. Big on pie in the sky, short on specifics, and very, very short on critical thinking.

  5. He certainly has a stronger stomach than I do.

After just ten minutes of reading DU, my stomach starts to get queasy.

Yojimbo, that's the amazing thing about the Left. They are part of everything they rail at, from big oil to big corporations to the rich. They never get it.

  9. A few year back, Richard McEnroe and I went into the belly of the Beast. It was a townhall meeting sponsored by then Speaker of the California Assembly, Karen Bass (avowed Communist), and Representative Diane Watson (Democrat). The majority of the crowd were Lefties pushing for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. The mob was ready to do very intolerant things to Watson upon hearing that there weren't enough votes. She had to quiet the rabid frothing dogs, er mob, by feeding them a morsel, "Speaker Pelosi has a secret plan". She's gonna bring civil suits once B & C have left office. Well, we all know that didn't happen. Richard asked a question, and he can fill you in. But his major function was to keep me in check, which he did admirably. It allowed us to leave the auditorium with only looks of disgust, and promptly hoisted the American flag for a drive-by. The medal we gained that day was Rush Limbaugh using the article we co-wrote.

That was the first expedition, then there was countering the International ANSWER anti-war parade in Hollywood. But that's for another time.
