Rahm Emanuel: “I’m fine with public schools…

“…but send my own kids to one? What, are you nuts?” Truthfully, I don’t blame him at all for wanting his kids to get the best education they can. Where the hypocrisy comes tromping in, like an unwelcome neighbor in great muddy boots, is when politicians exercise their right to choose private schools for their children, but are perfectly content to prop up a corrupt and ineffective public school system for the children of other people, stubbornly resisting changes that could in any way be construed as reducing the power of teachers’ unions.

Very common here too, for people of a certain political persuasion to noisily support government schools while quietly shipping their kids to private educational facilities.

Quite agree and one of the worst things his Obamaness did (a long list, I know) was to send his kids to a posh private school while at the same time taking steps to ensure that the poor residents of Washington didn't have any ability to exercise school choice. By contrast one of the best things I've heard about Carter was that he actually sent his daughter to the local government school.

Had the exact same discussion in Denmark recently. A top-ranking Social Democrat scolded us little people for not supporting the public schools enough only to be discovered that her own kids are in a private school. Ups.

Same goes for the party leader. Her explanation were, that her children would be forced to commute a whole 800 yards down the road should they attend a public school, and what decent parents would put their kids trough such an ordeal? Oh, and she runs with the Socialist Party on tax hikes on the so called rich exepc for her own husband - a top Eurocrat - who uses a hitherto unknown loop hole in the tax code to carry his load of cash to the bank with a smile on his face every pay day. (Exactly what we pay him for is an utter mystery, but I'm sure he deserves every dime.)

It's the hypocrisy on the left that is so unbearable. And they are going to win the next election. Go figure.

David Horowitz discusses the terrible public school system in USA, controlled wholly by the Democrats. he recommends school vouchers for parents to be able to send their kids to any school.

I suggest that we make it a rule that anyone getting paid with public dollars loses their job unless all their appropriate children and grandchildren [i.e. K-12 age] go to public schools.
