The Detroit Tigers have won their first division title since 1987, and they're red hot, having recently posted a 12-game win streak.
They're G-r-r-r-r-REAT!

Who?
ReplyDeleteYoJ: Tigers and Diamondbacks, World Series. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteTigers have a good chance, D-backs not so much. Tigers have great starting pitching right now, and they have a quality closer(they got him from the D-backs!). You have quality players in the field with playoff experience. You probably have the best starting pitching for a short series, especially if Max comes through, and that counts for a lot.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that something good still comes from Detroit, even though I don't follow hockey.
ReplyDeleteHa! And they're all union members!
ReplyDeleteDetroit Tigers? Oh, yeah, they had a great team that played in the World Series in 2006, and blew out the lowly Cardinals in four straight games, right?
ReplyDeleteSorry, Paco. Couldn't resist that. :)
Doesn't look like the Cards are gonna make it this year, so good luck Tigers.
Meanwhile the Sydney Tigers (formerly from my old ancestral town of Balmain)have bombed totally and missed their chance after looking like winners. Devastating.

Yeah, I'm a Cardinals fan who lives in a Detroit suburb now. If the Cards can't be in it [boy, if Wainwright just hadn't gone down] I can enjoy the Tigers. They usually play the game right and don't have any real headcases.
ReplyDeleteAnd 2006 was merely payback for 1968. Boy, did that one hurt.
Just a couple "Bless you, Boys" … and fizzle-time!
ReplyDeleteCheers
JXM: I still remember listening to bits and pieces of the '68 Series on a transistor radio on the school bus. I was in the 7th grade, I believe.
ReplyDeleteOne of my big regrets is never attending a game in Brigg's Stadium, a very unique place. I know the Angel announcers always loved the place. They were so close to the action they could hear the conversations at home plate.
ReplyDeleteWatch out for the SF Giants, just sayin', they may surprise.
ReplyDeleteI know it's SF, blahblah, but they're a great bunch of guys.
Don't know. Can the Giants play the Rockies forever? Rockies are my favorite team but sometimes they deserve AAA status.
ReplyDeleteWell, wrong again! Giants finish against the Rocktobers. That's four more wins. You could be right.
