The reports are not good, disturbing even. I have heard basically the same story four times in the last 10 days, and the people doing the talking are in New York and Washington and are spread across the political spectrum. As far as I know, Obama hasn't actually taken to shuffling along the corridors of the White House at night in bedroom slippers and bathrobe, mumbling the word, "Rosebud", but he may be heading in that direction. And it's quite understandable. Ushered into the presidency on the myth of his own awesomeness - a myth he believed - it must be extremely difficult for him to come to terms with his own incompetence and the non-viability of an ideology that he has held dear his entire adult life. A man with genuine intelligence and strength of character would ultimately be able to admit this to himself, however hard the internal struggle, and change course. Is Obama such a man? For his own sake, as well as for the sake of the country, I hope he is; however, I have seen no evidence of it thus far.
The gist is this: President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his own government. He talks mostly, and sometimes only, to friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett and to David Axelrod, his political strategist.

I doubt that Obama is any of man, Paco. He looks to be the product of leftie indoctrination about how everyone succeeds, no one fails. Everything is "win win", so long as everyone believes that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, right.
Obama was groomed for the Presidency, but was never taught that while failure may not be an option, it's always a possibility. He doesn't know how to lose.
Add in the lone wolf syndrome, and his upcoming meltdown will be epic.
BTW, Paco, don't forget the source of your inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteKind of reminds me - if true - of the robot in Star Trek that begins to malfunction when shown how illogical its conclusions have been...
ReplyDeleteCouldn't happen to a better commie.
Ah, great - Clinically depressed president talks only to the handler and the mouthpiece. Both of whom probably work for god knows who.
ReplyDeleteIt ain't me, that's for damn sure.
Speaking here as an outsider, but isn't there something Nixon-esque over it?
ReplyDeleteNot that Nixon didn't know how to loose, he did that plenty of times, enough time to want to win by any means necessary.
There are some eerie similarities: It's the self-chosen isolation with only a few devotees he thinks are his only friends remaining, locking the doors and shutting the blinds to keep reality at bay.
Nixon and Obama seems to have the combination of pettiness and illusion of grandeur in common.

This next election is going to be ugly, of that I have no doubt.
Today's press conference: "You're still big, Mr. President! It's Hollywood that got small..."
ReplyDelete"I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille!"

ReplyDeleteTyrannus, I believe.
I'll start to worry when he pulls a Harvey. Of course, this guy is 180 degrees from James Stewart in every aspect, so hope springs eternal

Mikael, my first thought was JFK, who had to take medication. In Obama's case it's probably because he found out he isn't a god.
ReplyDeletePrariecat, great analogy!
By-they-way, wonder if the Obama's are sleeping separately

Obama reminds me of our former PM, treasurer and self-appointed genius Paul Keating. They even look similar.
ReplyDeleteWell Keating's marriage did not survive his stint as leader, and rumours that he is 'bi/gay' still float around, while his current woman is the epitome of style.
I reckon the Obamas are not a close couple, and the Presidency has made the weakness of their bond more apparent. Among other things.
Study Keating for hints of where Obama's future may be leading him.
Mikael: The Nixon analogy is perfectly valid.

ReplyDeleteI think you are seeking "Cave Canem".
