Tim Blair has a roundup of links on the subject of the new Climategate email releases.

Bonus smear-quote from cli-fi fabularch Michael Mann: "Agents doing the dirty bidding of the fossil fuel industry know they can’t contest the fundamental science of human-caused climate change. So they have instead turned to smear, innuendo, criminal hacking of websites, and leaking out-of-context snippets of personal emails in their effort to try to confuse the public about the science and thereby forestall any action to combat this critical threat. Its right out of the tried-and-true playbook of climate change denial."

  1. One of my clients is a Liberal. Framed photo of The Current Occupant & all. Believes we are destroying the Earth. I wouldn't 'engage' and at first got off with telling him about the dinosaur digs near my Little House on the Prairie childhood home, and then mentioning how little I know (he's well-educated). The next time he said "Well, even if we don't know - what can it hurt to treat it as if it's so, just in case." Sounds good...on the surface. But just because I MIGHT get cancer at some time in the future does not mean I have a hysterectomy or massive radiation or chemotherapy - JUST IN CASE. That's a completely nonsensical way to look at things. But typical, for people like him.

Regulation 'just in case' is not something I've been able - in my uneducated way - to find in the Constitution, or even in rational, critical thought.

  2. "Watt's Up With That" is covering Climategate 2.0 nicely. The degree to which these pseudo-boffins will go to support "the cause" is both dismaying and amusing.

It's always fun to watch so-called professionals bite themselves in the butt. Tasty, tasty schadenfreude!

TW: acemake. Why, I think the AI wants the air conditioning turned on, in celebration! I would, if it were summer. I'll just notch up the heat, instead.

  3. Even if you got every so-called "climate scientist" to stand up and outright admit to fraud, there would still be gullible fools who are simply incapable of changing their minds.

  4. "they have instead turned to smear, innuendo, criminal hacking of websites, and leaking.."

But it's an insider, a true believer, doing the leaking.

What a turgid whine, against imaginary 'they'. Keep looking under your bed for 'deniers' Mann.
