Whew! Boy, am I exhausted. While the missus was in the recovery room, I went off in search of the cafeteria and must have wandered a quarter of a mile through a maze of halls, different floors, detours and dead-ends before I found the place. Then I stood in the wrong line for ten minutes, and had to go stand in another one. I had a vastly overpriced hamburger (tasty, though), with some fries and a Coke. Finally, I had to make the long trek back to the surgery center.
What's that you're asking? Oh, of course! How's Mrs. Paco. She did fine. As usual, it took her longer than most to come out from under the ether, but the surgery went well, praise God and her surgeon, and she's now home, resting comfortably. Many thanks to the good people at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
And many thanks to my friends here who offered up prayers and best wishes. You guys are the best.

Great to hear.
ReplyDeleteHospitals are the same everywhere, one of my recent jobs was actually guiding patients through the maze. Wanted to be a nurse but don't have the stamina (yay for ladies and gay men!), so 'guide' dogsbody is all I can do.
Deborah Leigh said... Great news! Thanks for the update! Glad to hear she's fine. Wow! She's home fast. You didn't give us a chance to...(everyone act like there was nothing planned.)
ReplyDeleteDid you see a rather furry fellow continually checking his watch while muttering, "I'm late! I'm late!" If you had only asked for directions...men, sheesh. There was probably a quicker way, because you know the medical folks don't have that long for lunch. Welcome back from Wonderland.
Glad everything went well! Did she get the "happy" pills?
glad to hear she is well and at home. i too have a problem coming out of the ether - took almost two hours after their prediction this last op.
ReplyDeleteam also glad to hear your burger was tasty - especially at a hossie cafe
Glad to hear all is well Paco, damn ether turned my beard snow whit when I was in thirties...Clean shaven since!
ReplyDeleteVery good news, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful news! I'm sure you will sleep well tonight. I have a feeling that the microwave will be undergoing stress tests the next few days with you "cooking"
ReplyDeletePaco never uses the microwave. Can't keep it lit.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that your wife is doing well. May her recovery continue smoothly.
ReplyDeleteExcellent news!
ReplyDeleteSounds like she had the best kind of visit to the hospital.
ReplyDeleteShort and successful.
SO glad to hear the good news, Paco. Don't know if I take longer to come out from under, but do know that when I do, I'm usually puking. Your Lovely Bride obviously has MUCH more class than I!
ReplyDeleteFeed her lots of yummy fresh fruits & vegetables, and as much really good chocolate as she can stand - she deserves it!
She's having a bit of trouble with nausea, and is in some pain, but I'm sure she'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteDeborah Leigh said... Paco, remember the "in sickness and in health" phrase in the nuptials? Yep. This is a test.
ReplyDeleteThought they would have given her some good drugs for the pain and nausea. Might have to kick it up a notch, or trade in for something stronger. Clear liquids, tea and toast, then what prairiecat said.
That is good news Paco, glad Mrs Paco is back home, a little bit of tender care is needed now and sympathy.
ReplyDeleteHave to thank SwampWoman for the wonderful beef BBQ, yep we were looked after while waiting on your front lawn, sorry to hear you had to make do with a Hamburger from the Hospital cafeteria.
missred and Richard looked after the fluid side for us.
Take care of yourselves and all the best.
Glad to hear she's on the mend. Short and sweet is best when it comes to hospital visits.
ReplyDeleteGreat news, Mr Paco!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that Mrs. Paco is doing well.
ReplyDeleteUm... about that hole in the yard...
Good on ya! Glad she's ok.
ReplyDelete(Hole? What hole?)
Good report! That's what we all were waiting to hear.
ReplyDeleteYay! A thousand times Yay!
ReplyDeleteDeborah Leigh said... If you ever have to go to the hospital (hopefully, never), let us know that you'll be needing sustenance and we'll add it to our prayer list. Wonder if God ever received a request like that. "Dear God, we ask you guide our dear friend Paco to the cafeteria in the shortest route. Thank you." Can I get an "amen"?
ReplyDeleteAmen sister!
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad to hear that, Paco. Great news!
ReplyDeleteDeborah: Men never, ever ask for directions. Makes us look girlish. What, you think a woman invented GPS? Don't be silly. :-) Hug.
Mikael: You are quite right about that. It is an act of vanity to which I have, myself, succumbed on many occasions.
ReplyDeleteWoot! Woot!
ReplyDeleteWell, that calls for another, actually.
WOOT!
