"U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized thousands of hair dryers recently that were determined to constitute a “substantial product hazard” under U.S. law, for failing to have adequate immersion protection," DHS announced. "The potentially dangerous hair dryers were identified through a nationwide targeting operation by the CBP Import Safety Commercial Targeting and Analysis Center (CTAC)."I don’t know about you, but I’m sure I’ll sleep better tonight, armed with the assurance that I’m not using some appliance with inadequate immersion protection. Of course, there’s still a lot of work ahead for Napolitano. Never mind about terrorism and illegal immigrants; will she be able to save us from the scourges of unpasteurized cheese and boa constrictors?

"Shocking", there goes the James Bond movies.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens if an illegal alien carries one over the border? You conficate the product and then sign the alien up for absentee ballot?
YoJ: Yep, come to think of it, that probably is the way it works.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they pasteurized boa constrictors!
ReplyDeletePaco Enterprises teaches me something new every day.
Oh, a wise guy, eh?
ReplyDeleteJanet is finally setting priorities, huh?
ReplyDeleteDeborah Leigh said... That's DHS/CBP for ya. Keeping us safe from hair dryers (and 6 ounces of non-floride toothpaste). I feel safer. But the questions are, what constitutes adequate immersion protection and, what is "substantial product hazard" and, how much did this "sting" cost the taxpayers? (Cue music: "Theme from The Sting")
ReplyDeleteYojimbo, which is more dangerous, the hair dryer or the illegal?
