Hey, I bet racism's to blame.
Not to worry, though. In order to defuse racial tensions nationwide, Obama's team is busy reaching out to responsible community leaders.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
"Even the original consent agreement caused Jackson to declare Detroit as “ground zero”"
ReplyDeleteIf only..
Kinda looks like that now.
ReplyDeleteYa' mean it's-it's..nevermind.
ReplyDeleteJus' wait 'til the, hmm, gotta' be politically correct here..uhh, persons of color gentlemen's club wars begin.
Clears throat. Oh Hey, use to be a detective hang around here? Seen him lately.. ;)
ReplyDeleteI live close to Detroit. Many of my students are from Detroit. I've been watching for 12 years. I teach Public Administration to grads who want to be city managers and such.
ReplyDeleteThere are many of the resources still in the D to make a decent city. It won't happen, though. After years of trying to help, I've given up. Detroit is like an addict, and it hasn't hit bottom and acknowledged it yet, so it won't change. It still blames everyone else for its problems.
The level of denial among some 80% or so of residents of the D is unbelievable unless you see it up close.
Over 50% of the city is functionally illiterate. Even among my good students the attitude is likely to be "You owe us, give us the money, go away."
The paranoia is past 11.
If it wouldn't result in a mass exodus to the suburbs, I'd say, "Burn it down and be damned."
