Last Saturday at 8.30 p.m. people who believe in civilisation gathered around the planet to celebrate the Hour of Power. While hippy, mung bean-eating, pot-smoking types sat around in unlit rooms pretending that they were Jesus and could save the world, people who believe in civilisation, advancement and human endeavour set about to try to use as much electricity and other carbon dioxide producing products as possible, and it was a great success…In closing, I thank the person who started it all: Tim Blair of the Daily Telegraph. I congratulate him on starting a worldwide movement that celebrates human achievement. Well done, Tim Blair. So say we all. Well done, indeed.

Deborah Leigh said...Hopefully the honorable gentleman is sincere in his rightful congratulations to Tim...but, I am always suspicious of such pronouncements especially since they come to the floor of their parliment. However, the truthsayer slips thru the mob.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Tim for another successful year of Hour of Power! Every light that is lit, every bbq that spews is like kryptonite to the hippies. Now onward to the planning for the 2013 Hour of Power, and its associate Carbon Fest!
MLC = Member of the Legislative Council. He's a member of the upper house of the NSW Parliament. It's a real job - he probably has a desk and everything!
ReplyDelete"Dr Phelps is a libertarian with social conservative tendencies, placing him within the 'fusionist' school of conservative political philosophy. His political hero is Ronald Reagan."

Great stuff! Go Tim.
Aw, man...I was hanging in a hammock on a mountain in South Carolina & had no chance to broaden my carbon footprint! Durnit, I've been part of that celebration for YEARS now, really sorry to have missed it!
