ReplyDeleteIn John Maddox Roberts' ancient mystery "The Temple of the Muses" King Ptolemy XI of Egypt, sober for once, gives Maddox's protagonist, Roman Senator Decius Caecilius Metellus, permissiion to investigate a murder of a philosopher in the Museum of Alexandria. Ptolemy asks him why he wants to investigate, and when Decius gives a vague answer, the king says "You mean it's your hobby?"
